When I saw the denman brush I thought the experience was gonna become a horror story but it surprisingly didn’t break my hair and smoothed it out. The thickness and tightness of my hair required that much heat to coax it straight, but I don’t think it will experience damage. I’ve had more heat on my natural hair (cough Dominicans cough)

it actually wasn’t too bad. If you look on Facebook you’ll see more pictures including the price menu. My service would have cost $100 because it was the First Glimpse which includes consultation, shampoo, steam, cut, and flat iron. Plus they have a 10% off coupon on their web page so check it out!

Did she use any heat protection, I didn’t her say she was using any. Your hair have really grown, cute as always.

Very nice…I didn’t realize u had color. I want to straighten…but I’m afraid of heat damage. How lovely…your crown is just as long. Mine breaks there.

I wish there was a good natural salon in Austin TX :(

    thank you!

you’re right, there was no specific heat protectant. But the stylist told me that the steam treatment I did would protect my hair as well as ridding my strands from any product. We’ll see if my curls come back

they just opened in February so I went as soon as I could, but you’re right we should go come winter time!

I actually think my crown breaks :( I was disappointed by how short the front of my hair was compared to the back and sides. And the color I have is real old from two summers ago but I plan on getting more in a few weeks. I’ve only had the most minimal of heat damage and it was on the front of my hair. Everything else is too kinky and coarse to be damaged lol

I don’t know of any off the top of my head but naturallycurly (dot) com has an extensive salon finder. I just looked and saw quite a few in Austin! Just be sure to go to one that has good reviews first. Good luck!

Your hair looked very pretty. I’m thinking about making an appt.

Very nice results. Makes me want to get a steamer! I don’t think she used too much heat. Also, my crown has the same issue with being shorter than the rest of my hair. I think it’s the combo of having color and a naturally looser texture there.

Do you think you’d go back again?

Thanks Monique. You should! It was a really great salon and experience!

Our poor crowns… you hit the nail on the head. I need to devote more attention to that portion before I end up with unintentional bangs. I would definitely go back again, even with my grad student budget. The main factor was the concern for your hair health, whereas most salons are just trying to get you out the door so they can take someone else.
